The 2009 Toyota Camry has 7 recalls, the most serious involving fire risks from two separate sources: the power window master switch, which can overheat and melt, and aftermarket heated seats, where a damaged heating element can short circuit.
The accelerator pedal on certain vehicles can become difficult to press down, slow to return to idle, or stick in a partially depressed position, raising the risk of a crash. Two related recalls address the brake light switch, which can be contaminated by silicone grease that gets into the switch contacts during assembly. This can cause the brake lights to stop working, leaving drivers behind you without warning that the vehicle is slowing, and may also prevent the vehicle from starting or the shifter from moving out of park. The heated seat recall specifically affects vehicles sold through Southeast Toyota distributors equipped with aftermarket seat heater kits. There is also a label recall covering vehicles with inaccurate load or tire information that could lead to overloading.
