The 2020 Volvo S60 has 4 recalls, the most serious affecting plug-in hybrid models where the high-voltage battery can short circuit while parked and fully charged, raising the risk of a fire.
On the fuel and electrical side, the low-pressure fuel pump can blow a fuse and stop working, cutting fuel delivery and potentially stalling the engine while driving. The automatic emergency braking system may also fail to detect obstacles and engage, due to a software and hardware incompatibility, leaving the driver without that layer of crash prevention. There is also an airbag concern: the front passenger airbag may not be properly secured in its housing, causing it to deploy incorrectly in a crash and raising the risk of injury to the front passenger.
