The 2024 Volvo VNRE has 3 recalls, the most serious being two separate high-voltage battery defects that can cause an internal short circuit and raise the risk of fire.
In both cases, the battery is the source of concern: one involves fasteners inside the battery pack that can break and create a short, while the other involves loose hardware that can short circuit the battery cells directly. The third recall affects the Bendix EC80 electronic control unit, which can misprocess commands or stop working entirely when exposed to electrical interference. When that unit fails, several safety systems can lose function, including anti-lock brakes, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, and the collision mitigation system.
