2022 Volvo Xc60 Recalls & Complaints

The 2022 Volvo XC60 has 7 recalls, the most serious involving a steering gear defect where a loose screw inside the gearbox housing can cause the steering wheel to lock up, and a high-voltage battery that can short-circuit while parked and fully charged, raising the risk of fire.

Both of those issues apply to plug-in hybrid models. On the powertrain side, a software error in the engine control module can prevent the combustion engine from starting, draining the battery and cutting drive power while in motion. Two recalls cover occupant restraint: the rear seatbelt retractors can deactivate too early, preventing a child safety seat from staying securely anchored in a crash, and front seat mounting bolts on certain vehicles may be loose, which can allow the seat to move and fail to properly restrain the occupant. The rearview camera can fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, reducing the driver's view of what is behind the car.
