The 2010 Volvo XC70 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the front seatbelts and driver's airbag, both of which can fail to protect occupants in a crash.
The front seatbelt pretensioner can fail to secure the occupant during a collision, leaving the driver or front passenger with significantly less restraint when they need it most. Separately, a faulty wiring connector in the driver's airbag clockspring can cause the frontal airbag to deploy weakly or not at all in a crash, removing a key layer of protection for the driver. There is also a compliance recall related to a missing or incorrect tire and rim information label, which does not carry a mechanical safety risk but means the vehicle does not meet federal labeling requirements for tire selection.
