On certain trucks equipped with a gasoline engine, the engine wiring harness (EGI) may not have been assembled correctly. As a result, an exposed wire could cause a short circuit. If this happens, the engine could stall and/or there could be electrical arcing.
Safety Risk
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Electrical arcing could damage surrounding material and increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the EGI harness and replace it with a new one if it is damaged. If no damage is found, the harness will be reassembled correctly.

On certain motorcycles, a defect within the ignition switch assembly may cause an unexpected loss of electrical power to the Engine Control Module (ECM) and other electrically controlled components. This could cause the engine to stall which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will repair the ignition switch assembly.

NOTE: VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
RESIDUE ON THE CIRCUIT CARD MAY CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE BACK-UP LAMP CIRCUIT AND EVENTUAL OVERHEATING OF THE COMBINATION SAFETY/BACK-UP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY. IF THIS SHOULD OCCUR, SMOKE OR POSSIBLY A FIRE MIGHT DEVELOP FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT, INCLUDING A RELAY, WILL BE ADDED TO THE BACK-UP LAMP CIRCUIT. THIS WILL REDUCE THE MAXIMUM ELECTRIC CURRENT THAT CAN FLOW THROUGH THE COMBINATION SWITCH IN THE GEAR SELECTOR.
On certain vehicles, a defect in the Lighting Control Module could cause the headlight high and low beams to become inoperative without warning, causing the headlights to revert to reduced-voltage daytime running light function. This would cause a reduction in lighting output, potentially increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the Lighting Control Module.

MASERATI IS RECALLING 824 MY 2009 GRANTURISMO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE OPTIONAL FRONT PARKING SENSOR SYSTEM. THESE VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED WITH FAULTY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE WHICH AFFECTS THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER'S ABILITY TO ACTIVATE, THEREBY NOT PROPERLY WARNING WHEN THE SEAT BELTS ARE NOT ENGAGED.
Safety Risk
IF THE BUZZER DOES NOT SOUND, OCCUPANTS MAY FAIL TO BUCKLE THE SEAT BELTS ADEQUATELY, RESULTING IN GREATER RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL UPLOAD A NEW SOFTWARE INTO THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTROL MODULE UNIT. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL 2009. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737.
Certain vehicles may experience instrument cluster backlighting malfunction. There are three distinct failure modes. (1) Vehicles built between 06/2000 and 11/2000 may contain a defective transformer that could cause an electrical short. (2) Vehicles built from 01/2002 to 04/2002 could have incorrect dielectric layers inside a capacitor that could lead to fluctuating current levels. (3) Vehicles built between 05/2004 and 09/2004 may have incorrect light emitting diodes (LEDs).
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the instrument cluster module.
On certain motorcycles, water could enter the ignition switch housing during operation in wet conditions or washing and activate the electric starter. Unintended engine startup could result in property damage, carbon monoxide poisoning, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the handlebar mounted left switch housing.
