The 2020 Audi A4 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle lock nut that can break and cause the rear wheels to fall out of alignment, leading to a loss of vehicle control.
The same rear axle misalignment issue also causes premature or uneven tire wear over time, which can further reduce traction and raise crash risk before the wear becomes visible to the driver. Prior repair attempts for the axle alignment problem did not fully resolve the issue, which is reflected in the separate tire wear filing. There is also a concern with the front passenger airbag: the passenger seat sensor that determines whether to enable or suppress the airbag can malfunction and leave the airbag disabled, meaning a front passenger would not have airbag protection in a crash.
