The 2014 Audi A6 has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: an electric coolant pump that can overheat and ignite, and a fuel line with a compression point that can weaken and leak fuel near an ignition source.
Both fire-related issues only affect vehicles with the 2.0L turbocharged engine. The coolant pump can become blocked by debris from the cooling system, causing it to overheat or short-circuit. The fuel line issue is separate, involving a point along the line that can weaken over time and allow fuel to escape. There is also a safety equipment concern: the passenger seat contains a body-sensing mat that detects whether the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult or a child, and stress or wear on that mat can cause the detection system to malfunction, potentially preventing the front passenger airbag from deploying correctly in a crash.
