The 2019 Audi RS 5 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle lock nut that can break and misalign the rear axle, causing loss of vehicle control.
Two recalls affect the front passenger airbag: corrosion on the passenger occupant detection system's connecting cable, or a fault in the passenger seat sensor itself, can cause the system to disable the passenger airbag, leaving that occupant without airbag protection in a crash. On the electrical side, an incorrect positive battery terminal cover was installed on certain RS 5 Coupe vehicles, and in a rear collision it can disrupt the 12-volt power supply, preventing doors from being opened from outside or hazard lights from functioning. There is also a tire wear concern tied to rear axle alignment: if the rear axle sits out of spec, tires can wear unevenly and prematurely, raising the risk of a tire-related crash.
