The 2018 Audi S5 Cabriolet has 2 recalls, both involving the front passenger airbag system, where separate defects can cause the airbag to either deploy incorrectly or fail to deploy at all in a crash.
On vehicles equipped with Super Sport seats, the seat-mounted head and thorax airbag may have been folded incorrectly during installation, which can cause it to deploy in an unexpected direction. In the second issue, corrosion on the passenger occupant detection system's wiring can cause the system's software to misread the connection as a fault and shut off the passenger airbag entirely, leaving the front passenger without protection in a crash.
