2016 Audi S8

The 2016 Audi S8 has 3 recalls, all carrying fire or stall risk: a turbocharger oil strainer that can block and starve the bearings, a leaking high-pressure fuel line, and an engine compartment seal that can contact hot surfaces.

When the turbocharger's oil supply strainer clogs, the bearings lose lubrication and wear down, which can cause the turbine wheel to grind against its housing or the shaft to snap, either of which can stall the engine without warning while driving. The fuel supply line feeding the high-pressure fuel pump can become porous over time and seep gasoline, which raises the risk of fire if that fuel reaches an ignition source near the engine. The engine compartment seal can work itself loose and drift onto hot engine components, creating a similar fire risk from a different source. All three issues center around the engine bay and involve heat, fuel, or oil in close proximity to conditions that can start a fire or leave the car suddenly undriveable.
