The 2006 BMW 328i has 3 recalls, the most serious being a driver's side airbag inflator that can explode during deployment, sending sharp metal fragments into the cabin and potentially causing serious injury or death.
A separate but related airbag concern applies to vehicles where the original steering wheel was replaced with a sport or M-sport wheel: that replacement wheel may also carry an inflator with the same explosion risk. On the electrical side, the wiring and connectors that control airflow for the heating and air conditioning system can overheat, melt the surrounding connectors, and start a fire even when the car is parked and unattended.
