The 2007 BMW 335i has 3 recalls, the most serious being a driver's side airbag inflator that can explode during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
This airbag defect covers two scenarios: the original inflator installed at the factory and any replacement using a sport or M-sport steering wheel, both of which carry the same rupture risk. Prior repair attempts involving steering wheel swaps did not eliminate the hazard if the replacement wheel contained the same defective inflator type. On the electrical side, the wiring and connectors that control airflow through the heating and air conditioning system can overheat and melt, raising the risk of a fire that can occur even while the vehicle is parked and unattended.
