The 2024 BMW i4 M50 has two recalls, both carrying fire risk: one from a high-voltage battery that can overheat due to insufficient weld seams, and one from a left-side chassis beam that can crack and damage the battery in a crash.
The battery overheating concern exists independent of any collision, as the weld issue can cause the battery module to generate excess heat on its own. The structural recall involves a longitudinal beam on the left side of the chassis that may crack over time, and if the vehicle is in a crash, that compromised frame can transfer force directly into the high-voltage battery, raising the risk of fire from the impact.
