2025 BMW I5

The 2025 BMW i5 has 3 recalls, all centered on the same braking system defect: the integrated brake system can malfunction and cause the vehicle to need significantly more distance to stop, or lose stability control entirely.

When the integrated brake system fails, power brake assist can drop out, meaning the driver has to push much harder on the pedal to achieve the same stopping force, and the vehicle may not stop as quickly as expected. At the same time, the anti-lock brake system can stop functioning properly, which removes the safeguard that prevents wheels from locking up during hard braking. The electronic stability control system is also affected, and if it cuts out, the vehicle can become much harder to keep on its intended path during sudden maneuvers or on slippery surfaces. These three recalls all describe the same underlying problem across the same hardware, filed across different campaign scopes within the broader BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce lineup.
