What can fail
The plastic bushings that hold the cruise control and throttle cables to the throttle valve lever can break from vibration and weather. When a bushing breaks, the cable housing can separate and catch on the broken bushing when you press the throttle pedal.
What the fix does
Dealers will install a spring steel clip on each cable's outer tube near the bushing to prevent the cable housing from separating.
