The 2020 BMW M5 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the transmission wiring harness, which can short circuit and cause the transmission to drop into neutral without warning, cutting drive power while the vehicle is moving.
The remaining two recalls both involve the rearview camera. In one, a portion of the camera image can be partially obscured, shrinking the visible area behind the vehicle. In the other, the camera display can fail to show any image at all when reversing. Both conditions reduce the driver's ability to see pedestrians, cyclists, or obstacles directly behind the car when backing up. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the underlying camera issue, and both represent the same general failure point across separate remedy efforts.
