The 2021 Chevrolet 6500XD has 4 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the optional Mobileye Collision Warning System, where an improperly routed camera cable can damage the wiring and overheat the electrical circuit.
A separate electrical concern involves the starter motor's ground cable, which can break at the point where it connects to the starter. When the cable breaks, repeated start attempts can cause current to reroute through the steel braiding of the power steering hose, heating it until it ruptures. On the steering side, a bolt on the left front steering knuckle can work loose, causing the turning radius to widen unexpectedly and making it difficult to steer to the left. Finally, the axle stabilizer bracket is held in place by bolts that can crack and break, allowing the bracket to fall away from the vehicle and become a hazard for other drivers on the road.
