The 2020 Chevrolet 6500XD has 6 recalls, the most serious involving a starter ground cable that can break and cause the starter to overheat through the power steering hose, which can then rupture and create a fire risk.
Two recalls affect steering control on the left front knuckle: a bolt can come loose and a separate jam nut can back off its stopper bolt, both of which increase the turning radius in a left turn and make the vehicle harder to steer. On vehicles equipped with the Mobileye Collision Warning System, an improperly routed camera cable can overload the electrical circuit and overheat, raising the risk of fire. The chassis wire harness can also chafe against the leaf spring hanger bracket if routed incorrectly, and depending on which wires are damaged, the engine can stall or anti-lock brakes can lose function. Finally, axle stabilizer bracket bolts can crack and break, allowing the bracket to fall away from the vehicle and become a hazard for other traffic.
