25 recalls across 18 model years
The Chevrolet Corvette has 25 recalls spanning 2005 through 2026, with the most serious recent issue being a fuel spill risk on 2023–2025 models where excess fuel can overflow the filler pocket during refueling and contact hot engine or exhaust components, raising the risk of a fire.
On 2024–2025 models, the driver and passenger seat belt retractors can lock in the stowed position, leaving occupants unable to buckle in. A software error on 2025 models can prevent the vehicle from detecting a failed rear turn signal, leaving the driver unaware the light is not working. The 2026 model year has a recall for missing owner's manual content.
The 2021–2022 model years have a driveshaft issue where rear half-shaft assemblies can be missing ball bearings, causing an unexpected loss of drive power. On 2020 models, the front trunk lid can be driven unlatched and fly open at speed, blocking the driver's view; separately, the driver's seat belt retractor can fail to lock in a crash; and sensor contamination in the electronic brake boost system can reduce braking assist, requiring significantly more pedal force to stop. There is also a 2020 recall where the interior trunk release button can stop functioning after the vehicle sits for ten minutes, potentially trapping someone inside.
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 has a crash sensing module that can enter a fault state under hard braking or acceleration, disabling airbag deployment in a crash. On 2017–2018 models, the electric power steering assist can fail, making the wheel significantly harder to turn at low speeds. The 2015–2017 model years have a recall covering airbag and seat belt pretensioner control modules that can fail to deploy in a crash. The 2015 model year alone has several additional issues: a driver airbag back plate that can fracture and allow the airbag to separate from the steering wheel; a rear suspension toe link that can loosen and separate, reducing steering stability; a parking brake that may only engage on one rear wheel; and an early-production batch with an improperly seated parking brake cable.
The 2014 model year has a cluster of recalls: rear shock absorber tubes can separate from their brackets, causing a sudden handling change; a sensing and diagnostic module can short circuit and disable airbags and pretensioners; and optional sport seats on early-production examples do not meet side-impact protection standards for unbelted young children. The 2011–2012 coupe's rear hatch hinges may not hold in a crash, allowing the hatch to separate. Going back to the original generation, 2005–2006 models with the tilt and telescoping steering column can develop a signal interruption that causes unexpected changes in vehicle behavior, and 2005–2007 models have an underhood electrical housing that can expand and bend the low-beam headlight wiring, causing headlights to go dark.
