The 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia has 2 recalls, both involving the passenger frontal airbag inflator, which can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death. Both recalls stem from the same Takata airbag issue. One covers vehicles where the original inflator was never replaced, and the other covers vehicles where a prior repair was performed using a non-desiccated replacement inflator that is itself considered defective. In either case, the inflator can explode with excess force, and the resulting metal fragments pose a serious risk to anyone in the passenger seat.
