The 2012 Ford E-350 has 6 recalls, all involving Ricon wheelchair lift equipment, with the most serious being a potential short circuit in the lift's armored pendant cable that can cause a fire.
The remaining recalls all center on structural failures in the Ricon S-series lift platform. On certain lifts, the side plates that support the platform can crack, allowing the platform to break free and drop against the vehicle's lift door. A related issue affects lifts with folding link arms: the pivot holes in those arms can be oversized, letting the internal bearings shift out of position and causing the stowed platform to move excessively until its mounting fails. These defects were installed by several different mobility equipment converters, so the specific recall that applies depends on which company modified the vehicle.
