The 2014 Ford E-350 has 8 recalls, the most serious involving wheelchair lift platforms that can crack, separate, and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door, and foldaway seats whose backs can move in a crash, raising the risk of injury to the occupant.
Several of the recalls cover the same Ricon-brand wheelchair lift models installed by different mobility upfitters. Across these, the lift platform's side plates can crack and cause the platform to detach, or bearings can shift out of position and cause the platform mounting to fail. Both failures leave the lift unable to safely support a wheelchair user. There is also a seat hardware concern on certain vehicles: bolts used to install seats, seatbacks, or seatbelt anchors can fracture, which could allow those components to fail in a crash. On the visibility side, certain ambulance conversions are equipped with a backup camera monitor that can display a mirrored image, causing the driver to steer in the wrong direction when reversing.
