The 2014 Ford E-450 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving wheelchair lift platform side plates that can crack and cause the lift platform to separate, leaving it resting against the vehicle's door and potentially stranding a passenger mid-transfer.
A second recall affects vehicles modified with Freedman GO-ES Foldaway Seats: in a crash, the seat back can move forward, failing to hold the occupant and raising the risk of injury. On the visibility side, certain E-450 ambulances built by VCI Emergency Vehicle Specialists and equipped with ASA Electronics Voyager backup camera monitors can display a mirrored or otherwise misleading image, causing the driver to steer in the wrong direction when reversing and increasing the risk of a collision.
