The 2021 Ford F-59 has 3 recalls, all rated at the same severity level, with the most serious being a steering shaft bolt that may not be properly tightened and can allow the steering shaft to separate from the gearbox, causing a complete loss of steering control.
The fuel system also carries a significant risk: paint along the fuel tank's weld seam can peel away, leaving bare metal exposed to corrosion that eventually opens a leak. Fuel escaping near any ignition source raises the risk of fire. On the drivetrain side, the rear axle may have been filled with an insufficient amount of lubricant, which causes the rear wheel bearings to wear and seize. If the rear axle or driveshaft fails as a result, the vehicle can lose all drive power, the parking brake may stop functioning, and the transmission may no longer shift into park, making it difficult to secure the vehicle from rolling.
