The 1988 GMC K Series has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a cruise control cable that can slip and cause the throttle to stick open or behave erratically, a brake rotor that can crack apart in high-salt regions and eliminate braking at the affected wheel, and shock absorbers with incorrect nuts that can loosen and allow the shock to detach, potentially tearing a brake hose. On the structural side, door striker nuts may be cracked or broken, which can allow a door to swing open in a collision. There is also a compliance recall affecting certain C3500 and K1500 trims, where the tire information label may show incorrect sizing data.
