The 2013 GMC Savana has 6 recalls, with three separate fire risks: seat wiring that can get caught in the seat adjustment mechanism and short circuit, a compressed natural gas fuel system connector that can overheat (on CNG-equipped vans only), and unused rear HVAC wiring on cutaway models that can corrode and overheat.
On the safety equipment side, the front passenger airbag may not deploy correctly in lower-speed crashes, leaving an unbelted front passenger with less protection, and certain fire extinguishers included with the vehicle may fail to discharge properly when needed. There is also a compliance concern: the ignition key can be removed before the vehicle is fully in the off position, which can allow unintended movement if the transmission is not in park.
