The 2017 GMC Savana has 7 recalls, with the most serious being three separate fire risks: an overheating rear climate control module that can ignite the headliner, corroded and overheating wiring in the optional rear HVAC blower circuit on cutaway models, and a corroded driver's power window switch that can also overheat and catch fire.
On the brake side, cutaway chassis models may have brake lines that contact the body mounts, wear through, and leak fluid, extending stopping distances. For occupant protection, certain vehicles may have tempered glass instead of laminated glass in the rear-quarter windows, which is more likely to shatter and allow occupants to be ejected in a side impact or rollover. Two equipment recalls round out the list: certain vehicles equipped with a plastic-handle or push-button fire extinguisher may find it fails to operate when needed, and on vehicles with an ASA Electronics backup monitor, the display can show a mirrored or disorienting image that leads the driver to steer the wrong way while reversing.
