The 2019 GMC Savana has 6 recalls, the most serious being a tire sidewall failure that can cause sudden air loss or tread separation, and an electrical wiring issue in cutaway models where an unused rear HVAC circuit can corrode, overheat, and start a fire.
On the visibility side, one or both rear-quarter windows may be made of tempered glass rather than laminated glass, which is more likely to shatter and allow occupants to be ejected in a side impact or rollover. There is also a backup camera concern on vehicles equipped with certain ASA Electronics Voyager monitors: the display can show a mirror-reversed image, causing the driver to steer the wrong way when reversing around an obstacle. Two related recalls address the seatbelt warning light, which fails to illuminate during the first few seconds after the ignition is turned on, meaning the driver may not see the reminder to buckle up before driving.
