2020 GMC SIERRA HD Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD has 4 recalls, the most serious being a transmission defect where the control valve wears and loses pressure, causing the transmission to shift harshly and the rear wheels to lock up suddenly, raising the risk of losing control. This issue affects diesel-equipped models, and prior repair attempts under an earlier recall did not fully resolve it for all vehicles, so a second repair is required. On the structural side, the hood latch on certain 2500 and 3500 series trucks can fail over time, allowing the hood to fly open while driving and block the driver's view. Trucks with a power-locking tailgate have a separate concern: water can get into the exterior tailgate switch and cause the tailgate to unlatch on its own while parked, letting unsecured cargo slide out onto the road when the vehicle is moving.
