The 2023 GMC Terrain has two recalls, both related to child safety: one affects the front passenger airbag system, and the other affects rear child seat anchors, with either defect raising the risk of injury to a child in a crash.
On vehicles with ventilated front passenger seats, the passenger seat's occupant classification sensor may fail to recognize a small child or child restraint and leave the front airbag active when it should be suppressed, meaning the airbag could deploy toward a child in a crash. The second recall involves the rear LATCH anchor bars, which may have excess coating on them that prevents a child seat from latching in properly, leaving the seat unsecured.
