Two of the recalls involve the driver's seat cushion frame, where mounting fasteners may not have been properly tightened. A loose seat can shift during a crash, undermining the geometry that seatbelts and airbags depend on to restrain the driver. The front seatbelt pretensioners carry a separate concern: a rivet that holds the quick connector and wire plate in place may be missing entirely. In a crash, the pretensioner pulls the belt tight against the occupant in the first fraction of a second; without that rivet securing the assembly, the pretensioner cannot do its job and the belt may not hold the occupant in place. On the steering side, certain HR-V vehicles can develop difficulty steering, which raises the risk of losing directional control and being unable to avoid a collision.
