The 2023 Honda HR-V has 4 recalls, the most serious being seatbelt pretensioner defects on both the driver and passenger sides that can prevent the belts from tightening properly in a crash, raising the risk of injury.
The pretensioner issue stems from a missing rivet that secures the connector inside the pretensioner assembly; without it, the mechanism may not fire correctly when needed. On the steering side, a separate defect can make the wheel significantly harder to turn, which can reduce the driver's ability to control the vehicle. There is also a fuel pump concern shared across a wide range of Honda models: the pump can fail while driving, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly.
