HONDA HR-V Recalls

The Honda HR-V has 5 recalls spanning 2016 through 2023, with the most serious being a missing rivet in the seat belt pretensioners on 2023 models that can prevent the belts from snapping tight in a crash, reducing restraint for both the driver and front passenger. On the brake side, 2016-2019 models share a rear brake caliper piston coating defect where gas pockets form in the brake fluid, causing a soft pedal feel and longer stopping distances. This same underlying issue also surfaces as a separate filing specific to 2018 models, where gas bubbles in the rear brake fluid produce a spongy pedal and reduced braking performance. The 2019-2022 HR-V has a rearview camera that can fail to appear on the display when the engine is started with a physical key, cutting off the driver's view of what is directly behind the vehicle while reversing. An earlier repair attempt for this camera issue did not fully resolve the problem, which is why a follow-up recall covers the 2019-2022 range. The 2016 model year has a compliance issue where some early-production vehicles left the factory without the required tire pressure placard, leaving owners without the recommended inflation information and raising the risk of over- or under-inflated tires.
