The 2020 Hyundai Nexo has 4 recalls, the most serious involving two separate hydrogen fire risks: a pressure relief device on the fuel tank that can break and leak hydrogen gas, and sensors that may fail to detect hydrogen leaks in the fuel delivery system, either of which can lead to a fire while parked or driving.
On the safety systems side, the electronic brake system can misread a sensor signal and sharply reduce braking power, extending stopping distances. There is also a software issue with the Remote Smart Parking Assist feature, where a malfunction may not halt the vehicle's movement during an automated parking maneuver, raising the risk of a low-speed collision.
