Summary
The Hyundai Veracruz has 5 recalls covering the full 2007–2012 production run, with the most serious being a brake fluid leak on 2010 models where fluid can enter the anti-lock brake control module, short circuit it, and start a fire even when the vehicle is parked and off.
The remaining recalls all center on the same engine oil leak issue, which affects the entire 2007–2012 production run. The front cylinder bank valve cover gasket can leak oil onto the alternator, damaging the charging system. When this happens, the charging system warning light comes on, and if driving continues, the engine eventually loses power and will not restart. An earlier repair campaign did not fully resolve the issue, which is why a subsequent recall was issued for the same defect on the same model years. On 2007 models specifically, this oil leak concern was the subject of multiple filings reinforcing the same underlying problem.
