The 2010 Hyundai Veracruz has 4 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk from brake fluid leaking into the ABS control module, which can short circuit and ignite even when the vehicle is parked and off.
A separate fire risk exists on the engine side: oil can leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket and drip onto the alternator, damaging the charging system. This can cause the engine to stall while driving, raising the risk of a crash. An earlier repair attempt for this oil leak did not fully resolve the issue for some vehicles, and those remain subject to the same concern. When the charging system fails, the warning lamp on the instrument cluster will illuminate before the engine loses power.
