The 2018 Indian Chief Vintage has 3 recalls, the most serious being an electrical fault that can allow the motorcycle to start on its own, filling an enclosed space with carbon monoxide.
Two of the remaining recalls involve lighting. The electrical connection for the Vehicle Control Module can fail and cut power to the front lights, including the headlight, leaving the rider with no forward lighting while riding. Some motorcycles may have been fitted with a European-market halogen headlight assembly instead of the correct US-market unit, which produces a different light output pattern and can reduce how well the bike is seen or how well the rider sees the road ahead at night.
