The 2014 Jaguar F-Type has 4 recalls, all centered on the same serious safety issue: the front passenger airbag may not behave correctly when a child or small adult is in that seat.
The passenger seat uses a sensor system to detect who is sitting there and adjust airbag behavior accordingly. Due to a wiring problem in the seatbelt harness connector, this system can misread the occupant. In some cases, the airbag may deploy with full force in front of a child, raising the risk of serious injury in a crash. In other cases, the system may instead read the seat as empty and disable the airbag entirely, leaving a small adult without protection. It is worth noting that a prior repair attempt did not fully resolve the issue, and vehicles that received that earlier fix may need a second inspection to confirm the wiring is correct.
