The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 6 recalls, the most serious affecting 3.0L EcoDiesel models: a cracked EGR cooler can ignite coolant vapor inside the intake manifold, raising the risk of an engine fire.
Three other recalls also apply exclusively to EcoDiesel-equipped vehicles. A failing high-pressure fuel pump can shed debris through the fuel system, starving the engine of fuel and cutting drive power without warning. Separately, a crankshaft position sensor tone wheel can delaminate and cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. There is also a software issue where the cruise control system may fail to disengage, holding or increasing vehicle speed even when the driver attempts to cancel it.
On the structural side, two recalls address the tow hooks and tow eye brackets. Fasteners on these brackets may not have been tightened to spec, allowing the hardware to detach from the vehicle while driving and become a road hazard.
