The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 3 recalls, the most serious being a high-voltage battery defect on 4Xe plug-in hybrid models that can cause a fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven.
The same 4Xe plug-in hybrid system also has a separate software fault in the hybrid control processor that can cut drive power without warning, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate normally and raising the risk of a crash. On the safety equipment side, a software error in the occupant restraint controller can delay the deployment of side airbags in a crash, meaning the bags may not be in position to protect occupants at the moment of impact.
