The 2020 Kawasaki W800 has 3 recalls, the most serious being loose exhaust pipe hardware that can detach from the motorcycle and become a road hazard for other vehicles, raising the risk of a crash.
The exhaust concern covers both the W800 and W800 CAFE trims: the nuts and collars that hold the exhaust pipe to the engine may not have been properly tightened, and once loose, they can fall away while riding. A piece of metal dropping onto the road at speed creates a real hazard for anyone following behind. There is also an electrical concern: the wiring harness that holds the horn in place can crack and break from normal engine vibration, leaving the horn completely non-functional. A rider who cannot sound the horn to alert other drivers or pedestrians loses a basic tool for avoiding collisions, particularly in tight traffic or at intersections.
