The 2022 KIA EV6 has 6 recalls, the most serious involving the integrated charging control unit, which can fail and cut power to the wheels while driving.
The charging control unit defect appears across multiple filings but describes the same problem: the unit degrades over time, stops charging the 12-volt battery, and can eventually cause a complete loss of drive power. Warning lights and messages will appear before any power loss occurs. There are also two separate rollaway concerns. A software error in the shifter control unit can disengage the parking mechanism while the vehicle is parked, allowing it to roll. Separately, the parking pawl can briefly release just after the vehicle is shut off, which can cause sudden unexpected movement if the parking brake is not set.
