The 2006 Lexus GS 300 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving fuel lines that can crack and leak, creating a fire risk if fuel contacts an ignition source.
The seatbelt system has a recall as well: the front seatbelt retractors may contain an incorrectly sized component in the emergency locking mechanism, which can cause the retractor to stay locked rather than release after activation. A retractor stuck in the locked position keeps the belt cinched tight against the occupant even after the trigger event has passed, potentially trapping them or making the belt uncomfortable to use. There is also a concern with the side airbags: the inflators in certain vehicles contain too little heating agent to properly expand the argon gas inside, meaning the airbag may not fully inflate in a side-impact collision and could leave the occupant with less cushioning than the system is designed to provide.
