The 2018 Lotus Evora has 3 recalls, the most serious being two crash-safety issues: a steering column that may not collapse properly in a frontal collision, and a passenger footwell floor panel that lacks enough stiffness to protect an unbelted occupant's knees from striking rigid structure.
The steering column concern covers the same underlying assembly defect across two filings. When the column fails to compress as designed during a frontal impact, it does not absorb the crash energy it should, increasing the force transmitted to the driver. In the passenger footwell, the toe board can flex enough to allow a knee to contact hard vehicle structure, raising the risk of leg injury in a crash.
