The 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG S63 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a roof front panel that can lose its adhesive bond, detach from the vehicle while driving, and become a road hazard for other traffic.
Two recalls involve seatbelt safety. The seatbelt extenders on certain coupe and convertible variants may fail to retract properly or break in a crash, leaving an occupant without full restraint. Separately, the front seatbelt pretensioners on certain vehicles may not fire correctly in a crash, again reducing how well the belt holds the occupant. On the lighting side, the low-beam headlights on certain coupe and convertible trims may be aimed incorrectly from the factory, reducing how much road the driver can see at night. There is also a concern with the automatic crash notification system: if the vehicle is in a collision, the system may report the wrong location to emergency responders, delaying help from reaching the scene.
