Water entering through improperly sealed front wheel wells can damage the vehicle's electronics, potentially killing the engine without warning and leaving the driver with no speed, fuel, or warning light information on the dashboard. A separate structural concern involves the second-row seats, which may not be properly secured on one side and can shift position in a crash, reducing the protection the seat provides to rear passengers.
Two additional body panel issues round out the structural concerns. The side spoilers on the tailgate may not be properly fastened and can break free at highway speeds, becoming road debris for vehicles following behind. Similarly, the front wheel arch covers can work loose and separate from the vehicle while driving, creating the same hazard for other road users. The final recall is a compliance label matter where the vehicle type code printed on the label is incorrect; this has no effect on how the vehicle operates or on occupant safety.
