The 2022 Mercedes-Benz Metris has 5 recalls, the most serious being two fuel system issues: a fuel pump that can shut down without warning and cut drive power, and fuel hose connections that can loosen and leak, creating a fire risk.

The fuel pump shutdown and the fuel leak are separate problems. The pump issue can leave the vehicle without power to accelerate or maintain speed in traffic. The hose connection problem involves the upper and lower fuel lines where they meet the engine; if those connections work loose, fuel can escape near hot engine components or other ignition sources. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the pump shutdown issue, and it is addressed across more than one repair campaign.

On the safety equipment side, certain right-hand-drive Metris vehicles have an airbag control unit that can collect water, which interferes with the unit's ability to trigger the airbags in a crash. An airbag that does not fire when needed leaves the driver and front passenger without that layer of protection during a collision.

The fifth recall covers the infotainment touchscreen's electrical connections, which may not be fully seated. When those connections are loose, the rearview camera image fails to appear on the screen when the van is in reverse, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle while backing up.
