The 2009 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the driver's frontal airbag inflator, which can rupture in a crash and send metal fragments into the cabin.
The second recall affects vehicles equipped with Freedman GO-3S foldaway seats: the seat cushion may not lock into position when rotated upright, and in a crash or sudden stop, the back can give way and leave the occupant without proper support. There is also a structural concern involving the A-pillar trim, where incorrect interior trim may have been installed; if an occupant's head strikes the pillar in a crash, the trim may not absorb impact the way it is required to.
