The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has 3 recalls, the most serious involving two separate fuel tank leak risks that can lead to a fire if fuel contacts an ignition source.
One issue stems from the fuel tank lacking a protective coating, allowing rust to form and fuel to leak. The other involves a parking brake cable routed too close to the fuel tank, where the cable can abrade the tank's coating over time, again leading to rust and leakage. On the steering side, certain vehicles built within a narrow early production window have a power steering pressure tube that sits too close to a structural crossmember, where friction and rust can eventually wear a hole in the tube. When fluid escapes, the power steering system loses pressure and steering the vehicle requires noticeably more effort.
